Rocket Air
Skateboarding prototype created for participation in the GDevelop Big Game Jam #9 based on the theme “To the Top”.
This is my first project made with GDevelop. While I was starting to learn the engine, I found out this jam was happening and thought it would be a great opportunity to try making something with it. I joined when it was already going on and realistically had around a day and a half to work on the game haha. I do have years of experience with Construct3 though, so I felt surprisingly at home while working on it.
The game didn’t turn out even close to how I originally imagined it, but I’m still happy to participate.
I definitely plan to remake and expand this project in the future. I even wrote a small story for the game that I didn’t have time to implement, along with different environments and planned features. What you’re playing right now is basically just the core mechanic, and even that didn’t end up exactly the way I had in mind, since I had to improvise a lot as a beginner with this engine.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little skate prototype!

Interesting first project
Definitely much better than my first one!
Keep up the good work! Gdevelop is a great engine, very easy to learn and to do things on it.
Thanks for playing!
Yeah, GDevelop is excellent, especially for learning or making something quickly. I actually have other game projects in Construct 3, which is very similar. There are a couple of differences, but the overall structure and workflow are still pretty close.
I liked the idea of skateboarding all the way to the moon and I loved the game, although sometimes I got stuck on some platforms.
Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!
I’m really glad you liked the idea of going all the way to the moon, the concept actually came from a little “Rick and Morty style" story I had in mind, mixed with some classic real-life skateboarders as inspiration.
And yeah, some of the platforms got a bit awkward sometimes haha, I didn’t manage to fix that in time. I was originally working on a more physics-based movement system, but it was taking longer than I expected, so near the end I switched to a simpler platform-style movement just so I could finish the game and participate in the jam.
Thanks again for giving it a try!
